Executive Director

 

The Covenant with North Carolina’s Children, Inc., the state’s premier child advocacy organization seeks a Director to coordinate and advance the organization’s work.  A coalition of more than 85 civic groups, professional associations, advocacy organizations, and individuals, the Covenant was formed to advance public policy to benefit children in North Carolina and to put children and youth first in our public and private lives.  The Covenant works on a comprehensive array of issues impacting children, including child welfare, early childhood education, economic security, juvenile justice, health, education, safety, and mental health, development disabilities, and substance abuse. 

 

Job overview:

The Covenant Director serves as the sole staff member for the organization and provides infrastructure to the organization by managing internal and external communications, coordinating activities of the coalition workgroups, fundraising, and engaging in advocacy around The Covenant’s legislative agenda.  The Director is the “face” of the organization with coalition members, the media, and policymakers.

Qualifications:

 The Covenant is seeking an energetic and enterprising individual ready to accept the challenge of renewing the organization’s commitment to policy advocacy on behalf of North Carolina’s children. The individual should be detail-oriented, possess critical thinking skills, and be comfortable working with a diverse membership. 

 

Specific qualifications include:

 

Candidate should have at least a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years relevant work experience.
